F.O.M. Re-elect Executive Board
By Sam Holbrooks
The Friends of the Gaines County Museum, Seminole Division, held it's first meeting of the new year, and the first of three slated for 2015, at the Gaines County Musem Tuesday evening. The group enters its seventh year of activity since its formation.
With a single vote, the membership of the F.O.M. voted to renew the positions of all current sitting Board members: Paul Elam, President; Kathy Davis, Vice-President; Charles George, Secretary, and Connie Lamm, Treasurer.
Kathy Davis reported total membership in the Friends of the Museum non-profit organization as 103 currently, slightly down from 2014, but early in the group's membership drive that is currently ongoing. Davis also reminded members of an upcoming Texas Association of Museums (TAM) series of workshops scheduled for April 7-10, 2015. In a letter to members, Davis reported that the museum had hosted 3152 visitors in 2014.
Connie Lamm delivered the financial report. A large portion of the expenses for the final quarter of 2014 revolved around a successful Christmas Open House, which saw 135 guests signed in. A donation from the Hess Corp. will assist the museum in making the lighted pumpjack in front of the museum a seasonal fixture each year.
Acquisitions Committee Chairman Scott Henderson reported on the Museum's most recent addition to the military room, a custom-built walnut gun case for the new Keith Clements post-World War II era gun collection. Publicity and Information Committee Chair Sam Holbrooks detailed recent upgrades to the Museum website, Facebook activity, and media coverage.
